Unique gold slivovitz
Gold slivovitz is unique in the world of fruit distillates, which originated and has been produced up to the present time in the bastion of Wallachian master distillers, Vizovice. The basis of this distillate is classic slivovitz which is subject to specific aging in oak barrels and thus acquires totally new characteristics.
The tradition of producing this unique beverage was begun by the Jelinek brothers in 1923 when they established cooperation with French cognac producer Denis Mounié . The RUDOLF JELINEK company continues this specialty for up to the present day. As with white slivovitz, production begins with a three-stage distillation of ripe plum mash. The resulting distillate is then stored for aging in wooden barrels made of oak. It is precisely this contact with oak wood which gives the slivovitz its golden colour and aroma, similar to cognac or brandy and adds a pronounced woody undertone to its fruit flavours.
This 45% fruit distillate is preferabaly consumed at a temperature consistent with its surroundings, as this is the only way for the aroma and flavour to fully develop, giving you the opportunity to fully appreciate the artwork of the Vizovice master distillers.
